"Using Sharepoint and Social Software for Knowledge Management"

Neil has spent the past year as an independent Knowledge Management Consultant, specialising in helping professional services firms adopt Sharepoint. In that time he has worked with Citigroup and KPMG.

Previously Neil worked for Linklaters as their Head of Knowledge Management Systems.  As a senior member of Linklaters' Knowledge Management function he was responsible for the firm's KM systems strategy and overseeing the day-to-day management of the firm's Intranet.  While working at Linklaters, Neil designed key systems including the firm's Intranet, an expertise database and a variety of KM tools.

Neil has a Computer Science degree and over 10 years of technology experience working with leaders in professional services, banking, pharmaceutical and telecommunications firms.  He regularly contributes to the KM community via Twitter, speaking at conferences and by authoring his blog on knowledgethoughts.com.

 

Outline:

Neil's talk will start with a brief Sharepoint primer, but will mainly focus on sharing five ways Sharepoint can be used to help a company's KM programme.

Specifically he will discuss how Sharepoint can:

  • make an Intranet more effective;
  • help teams manage structured information more easily;
  • drive efficiency through process automation;
  • improve search; and
  • assist with measuring KM usage.
