Job Introduction

We're recruiting for an Information Officer to be based in one of our six offices at TLT (Bristol, Manchester, London, Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh).  The role would ideally be Full Time but we are open to some flexible working and a job share for the right candidate.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Knowledge Management team, who service the whole firm in managing not just the legal technical knowledge but also knowledge about our clients, sectors we operate in and internal operations.  As an Information Officer you will be responsible for supporting our Banking and Financial Service teams, supporting with a range of duties, including legal and business research for client matters and business development.

Main Responsibilities

As an Information Officer your day to day remit includes:

  • Undertake legal and business research to provide support with client matters and business development activities as requested by members of your group;
  • Be responsible for harvesting know how within the firm, profiling it and promoting use of Minerva, our know how system;
  • Carry out post matter analysis and work with the Library & Information Services Manager (LISM).
  • Provide support to fee earners and Professional Support Lawyers (PSLs) in the running of internal know how sessions as required and attend those sessions. This may include suggesting topics, arranging speakers and providing research support to fee earners; 
  • Ensure that fee earners are kept up to date with developments in case law and legislation in their practice area. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • A library/information management qualification at degree level is essential. 
  • Experience working for a Law Firm is essential.
  • Research experience in a professional services environment such as a law firm, or be able to demonstrate transferable skills from another sector.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, in particular an ability to summarise and analyse large amounts of information.
  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel and databases together with exceptional planning and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills, willing to work flexibly in both a service and projects-based environment.
