We are looking for a part-time Librarian to work one day a week.  The role will involve:

  • Managing the library budget, tracking spend per team and advising on likely annual spend per team
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiating discounts where possible, resolving invoice discrepancies and monitoring usage of on-line services
  • Ordering books from publishers as required
  • Coordinating and managing all of the firm’s subscriptions ensuring there are no duplications
  • Ensuring all loose leaf publications are updated with new inserts
  • Maintaining a system for tracking the location of all publications within the office
  • Completing and maintaining a catalogue of all publications within the firm to comply with Copyright Licence
  • Disseminating information to the teams on a weekly basis about new publications received and items of interest
  • Attending regular meetings with supervising partner to discuss online services
  • Supporting legal staff by sourcing research material when required
  • Monitoring compliance with the Copyright licence and ensure it is renewed annually
  • Providing Library Induction training for Fee Earners and trainee solicitors.

Qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience required for the job

  • Good degree
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good research skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise work
  • Ability to work on own initiative without supervision
  • Ability to present information simply and accurately, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work methodically to deal with a constant flow of information with excellent attention to detail
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Access databases and updating websites essential
  • Previous legal experience essential
